The Rec
Report
The Spook House was the big hit of
the Halloween Party at the Boca
Grande Community Center, according
to Recreation Supervisor Dee Wheeler
who said the teens went to a great
deal of effort providing eight different
spooky scenes for the youngsters.
Credits go to Mandy Bowe, Jane
Coleman, Darlene Edic, Julie
Heimann, Aimee Jones, Ru Manning
and Stephanie Wheeler. The girls
were helped outby Dale Bowe and rec
assistant Sabrina Long who organized
the whole affair.
Thanks too, to Sheila Knight for the
popcorn balls, Shirley Johnson, Betsy
Joiner, Judy McKee and especially to
Dee Shevitski of North First Bank for
donating the hot dogs.
Dee said she also greatly
appreciated the use of the D&B Home
Yard Service pick-up for the hayride
and that driver Jeff Pringle was so
careful with his precious cargo.
One of the big surprises of the
evening came when everyone had to
get out of the truck and walk down
spooky Banyan Street which was
haunted by some strange creatures
resembling Warrena and Jeff Gaines
and Gina and Gary Maltezo.
With the support of the 75 or so
people who attended the party, the
Teen Club cleared nearly $100 out of
the $177 they took in that night.
Exercse Classes
A six week exercise class is being
offered at the Community Center on
Tuesday and Thursday evenings from
7-8 p.m. The class is being taught by
Betty Beardsley, a graduate of the
University of Florida with a major in
physical education. Registration is
$20. A capable gymnist, Betty also
will teach gymnastics if enough
interested people sign up for the
class.
Parents Advisory Board
A very important Parents Advisory
Board meeting will be held sometime
in December, Dee said, to plan the
winter program plus fund raising and
special events. Please watch the
bulletin board or check with Dee for
the time and date.
